To be an effective mediator you need to be driven and inspired by at least four things. First, you must have a love for people. I suppose you might be able to push some agreements through without such a love, yet I doubt that you would remain a mediator very long. It’s just too demanding a lifestyle if you don’t want the best for those who gather at your table. Second, you must have a love for peace. You have to care about the way that people treat each other. You must be willing to go a little further, to stay a little longer to help people maximize their relationships, not just the deal. – Dr. Joey Cope
